日本とラオスの外交関係樹立60周年を記念し、映画産業の土壌のまだ育っていないラオスを舞台に、両国の力を総動員した映画をつくります！

初めまして。日本ラオス合作映画『サーイ・ナームライ』製作事務局・広報の石根友理恵です。ラオスと聞いて、皆様は何を思い浮かべるでしょうか？ラオスは東南アジアを代表する大河メコンと、その支流が多く流れる自然豊かな国です。2015年、日本とラオスは外交関係樹立60周年を迎えます。そこでこの記念すべき年に、日本・ラオス両国の俳優・映画人による初めての合作映画を製作します。

ラオス在住歴13年の森卓を発起人とし、2016年春に、ラオスと日本での公開を目指し、日本政府や大使館、JICAなどの強力バックアップのもと動き出しています。史実にもとづいたストーリーを映画化まで手がけるのは、『天国からのエール』などでメガホンをとった熊澤誓人監督です。
